In front of this one finds a lovely place that serves the most exquisite Peruvian dish: Pacha Papa.

Pacha Papa, is one of the most visited restaurants in the city of Cusco, because there they fuse tastes and colors that come from Africa, Europe and the Orient, with, of course, indigenous flavors. This well-known restaurant offers the best of Peruvian cuisine prepared the way tradition demands it.

The food at Pacha Papa is cooked in traditional earthenware pots, wood burning or sautéed in the well-known skillets or cooked on great hot rocks, as is the case with pachamanca, where the food is wrapped in diverse types of leaves and cooked through the heat from the rocks that cover it.

You can begin your meal at this restaurant with delicious appetizers, such as the Huancayo-style potato, Arequipa-style ocopa, pacha potatoes and pacha corn, parmesan conchitas, cheese and bean solterito, Peruvian shrimp chowder, quinoa soup, Cusco-style chayro, etc.

You may also delight the palate with the exquisite entrees, such as pork adobo, olluquito with meat and alpaca jerky, baked trout with fennel and tomato, pork loin huatia with huacatay and panca, pachamanca, etc.

Furthermore, you can accompany your food with one of the finest wines and get sweetened with some our desserts, such as the typical kiwicha sweet, a seasonal fruit plate, sweet white sandwich cookies with cinnamon ice cream, fruit salad, among others.

Remember that lovely live Andean music will accompany you every day from 12:30 p.m. until 13:00 pm and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., while you have your favorite food at Pacha Papa.

Map Cafe is one of the most recognized restaurants in the city of Cusco and within the entire country of Peru, as it tends to integrate a variety of flavors, mixing the best of all the ingredients deriving from the central Andes region, and therefore creating a whole range of flavors to captivate the taste buds of its dinner guests.

The infrastructure and interior design of the Map Cafe is actually quite modern. In the cafe you’d find yourself face to face with a glass structure in the shape of a cube, in a minimalist style that manages a smooth harmony and a certain complicity with the colonial-style patio where the Museum of Pre-Colombian Art is located.

The modern indoor decor that makes up the Map Cafe, as well as the creativity and seasonings with which the chef prepares his dishes are both totally reflected in the restaurants menu, in which you’d be able to try out starter or appetizer options such as their delicious trout tartare, the alpaca tonnato, mushroom capchi, or the trout and cream cheese humitas (humitas are similar to tamales) with capers.

Within their entree or dinner options they have meals like the the tuna filet with “tacu tacu de pallares” (a typical Peruvian dish made with lima beans and rice, and then shaped into thick tortilla like shapes) accompanied by a sauce made of teriyaki and rocoto (chile peppers).

There’s also a steak dish with a mushroom sauce and Quinoan-style rissoto cooked with in a red wine base; a third option being the cuy (guinea pig, a delicacy of the region) with potatoes in a creamy peanut sauce and panca peppers.

When we get to the dessert options of the menu, there’s plenty to choose from. Among the choices there is the Quillabamba inspired chocolate and passion fruit tart; or turron amelcochado (a sugar thickened nougat) with figs and garnished with anise and orange zest; a third delicious option being the cherries drenched in purple maize syrup and served with a maize ice cream and toasted praline chulpe.

These being only a few of the delicacies being prepared at this restaurant.

Map Cafe doesn’t just limit you to the appetizers, entrees and desserts on their menu, they also have plenty of tasty sandwich choices and vintage wines that have been preserved just for you the diner and that come evening hours, are even more enjoyable whilst listening to some live music.

Map Cafe is also fully capable of handling any kind of event, with their buffet, cocktail, coffee break, happy hour, or general catering services.
Just remember that while enjoying the rest of your stay in the city of Cusco, a prime choice option for having a good time and eating great food too, is the Map Cafe.

There’s a fairly well-known saying that circulates within the Peruvian community, that says: “Barriga llena, corazon contento” (meaning: A full belly, makes for a happy heart). Truth be told, who wouldn’t be happy if their taste buds were also being catered to and “spoiled?” And there’s no better “spoiler” than Limo.

Limo is one of the most well known and highly regarded restaurants in the city of Cuzco, and it’s located on the second floor of a great house, which is right in front of the beautiful Plaza de Armas. The locale is clearly divided into three areas: the terrace with a perfect view towards the Plaza; the main dining room with the warm atmosphere; and the bar area. At Limo, its walls are decoratively accompanied by beautiful images, captured by the photographer Morfi Jiménez.

The menu at Limo presents the diner with a varied range of dishes. It’s sure to have options to catch the interest of every guest with every kind of taste preference; from entrees such as the “tipica causa,” “tiradito” and of course, ceviche amongst others. Within the main courses you’d find two varieties – the traditional kind, and the house specialties. The traditional ones can always vary, for example, Limo offers the well known “chaufa” rice dish but it could be accompanied with a side of crispy fish and prawn chicharrones (cracklings), “aji de gallina” (chili pepper chicken) and some quail eggs, or marinated steak with fried chips (french fries). The house specialty dishes include: grilled alpaca fillets marinated with garlic and rosemary and accompanied by a tasty wheat based coriander risotto, as well as grilled trout in a delicious white wine and pomegranate sauce. These are just some of the selections at offer.

There’s a pagan legend from Incan times that tells of a person by the name of Tupac Turin, whom after finishing a long day of work, went to his small boat docked by the edge of the Urubamba River, to lay down inside for some rest. They say that he was in such a deep sleep that he never even noticed that his boat was being carried away by the current; when he woke up he found himself down river in the Amazons. Not being able to get himself out of the river, he let the current continue to carry him away in his boat. In this same manner he just continued floating his way across the ocean and ending up in Europe sometime around the XV century.

Whilst in Europe, Tupac Turin taught all that he could and learned all that he could about culture, traditions, art and cuisine. In his quest to absorb it all, he traveled to the far Orient, China and India, places where he was introduced to and was captivated with all the new and different spices- which he then incorporated into his ingredients and obtained a new fusion of flavors.

Back and forth between all the teaching and learning trips he took, 20 years passed, until the day came when Tupac Turin began to think about how to get back to his home- his origins. One day, stepping into a pub, he met someone whom chance had placed in his path- Christopher Columbus. Columbus was so notably impressed by Turin’s epic stories, that he offered Turin a way to get back home. They prepared for his return voyage and then… the rest is already known history.

The story goes on to say that upon his return to Cusco, the whole community organized a great big welcome home celebration; where for the first time, all the flavors from around the world were fused together. Turin had brought back with him all kinds of condiments and spices from the other side of the hemisphere, and it’s as a sort of homage to this kind of mixture of flavors that Inka Grill was created.

Inka Grill, is a spacious restaurant dedicated to international cuisine, typical local cuisine and Neo-Andean. This restaurant allows the diner to sample a delicious Andean soup that contains fowl meat and quinoa grain with vegetables. There’s also an Andean potato and sweet potato ravioli in a buttery huacatay herb sauce option, valley trout, stuffed chicken breast with gorgonzola and spinach in a delicious elderberry sauce, oven baked pineapple spiced with maize and curahuasi anise, as well as a dessert dish consisting of pears cooked in a red wine base and served with cinnamon ice cream, just to name a few of the mouth watering choices.

The Inka Grill is strategically placed right at the Plaza de Armas of the City of Cusco, where you’d be able to have great views of the beautiful plaza and the nearby old colonial churches while sitting down to taste and enjoy the best of flavors that this amazing restaurant has to offer.
