After an unanticipated adventure to Pisco and Chiclayo (see other story for that journey), I finally got to my destination in Lima, Peru. Lima is surrounded by water, mountains and the plains, and therefore the people and environment create a magnificent culture in this city. Because Peru farms exotic flowers its no wonder that they have some of the most beautiful and well maintained parks, full of vibrant colors and flowers. When it comes to food, I did gain about 6 pounds. I went, twice, to “Crepe’s and Waffle’s” for meals because, as you can see, the food was great. The menu is pretty varied, and the food is prepared as you would hope, along with a great drink menu. However, they only serve coffees, teas, and chocolate drinks, no alcoholic beverages. Also, the services was quite slow, both times. I am a native New Yorker and love steak. I thought that being from New York, I had had the best steak. That is until I went to “Corrientes 348″. This is the best steak house I have yet to eat in. The different cuts of steak along with the unique spreads, appetizers, full bar and desserts was my favorite dining experience. All the meals are authentically Argentinian, and if you are smart enough to go there on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, you will be happily entertained by an incredible performance of Tango dancing while you enjoy your meal. The service is great, the atmosphere warm and friendly and the cost of this meal was very inexpensive for me. Their aren’t many places that I couldn’t see the night sky, but where I was staying, I would watch the orange sunset over the mountains every evening. One night we went out to a classy bar/restaurant where we ordered appetizers of shrimps, pork, corn and other side dishes while I tried Peru’s famous Pisco Sour, which I was warned to drink slowly otherwise I might not be able to make it back to my room on my own. This place was incredible because their are no walls separating you from the outside. And outside, within feet of you are some of Lima’s oldest Ruins. So we were able to sit in the warmth, have some drinks and food and enjoy the ancient ruins which were right next to us, fantastic! I could go on about other aspects, surfing, wonderful people, great cafes, but I’d like to leave something for you to write about.

After a beautiful week in Lima, we decided to treat ourselves to a good restful night in one of Lima’s nicest hotels, the four star “Foresta Hotel & Suite”. It was a great idea. The comfort was of the highest quality, the breakfast (included in the price) was fantastic with everything from fresh juices, to fruits, to eggs, to pancakes. The rooms were equipt with small kitchens and large bathrooms as well as a beautifully decorated bedroom. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. This hotel is also equipped with a separate conference room and full bar for meetings and business travelers. The cost for 2 was $140 US dollars. Quite reasonable for anyone who’s ever stayed in a four star hotel before. It is a great place for the traveler to stay at an incredibly reasonable price whether it is for personal or business travel.
