The Coliseum (Rome): This structure was built between the years 70 and 60 AD. The Colosseum is the architectural masterpiece most representative of Ancient Rome. Back in these times, people attended the amphitheater to take part as audience of the different public events and spectacles held there; the battles of the gladiators being one of the spectacles that generated the biggest audience due to its popularity. This is a monument in the true sense of the word, that although in partial ruin, has been able to withstand the test of time. Just to be able to stand still and take in this monumental structure, this coliseum; which you can’t help but see the history etched into its walls full of history and mysticism; this alone is reason enough to make this one of the stops that is definitely on your itinerary of “must-see” attractions.

The Vatican (Rome- Vatican City): This is the official residence of the Pope and it has significant religious importance. It not only has religious significance but it is also a good representative of surprising architecture and design due to its awe inspiring structures. One of its best and well known attractions- perhaps also the most representative- is the Sistine Chapel, an amazing piece of art by one of the masters of Renaissance art: Michelangelo.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Pisa): This is the world famous leaning tower, whose now characteristic uneven slope became noticeable in the year 1173. The tower itself is the bell tower for the Cathedral of Pisa which is located only a few meters away from it. Today it is open to the public and its main attraction are the 294 steps that make their way up the 8 stories of the building.

The Venetian Canals (Venice): Venice is known as “the sinking city,” as every year the amount of canal water is increasing around it and creeping up higher against the walls of the old city. The city itself is architecturally gorgeous; its canals and its pedestrian bridges, are worthy of being seen. However, the magic of this place is with its gondola rides, through the murky yet infinitely romantic water ways and “water streets.” It should be mentioned, however, that it isn’t true that all of Venice is made up of water canals, but the few quadrants that do have them, are definitely worthy of being a unique experience when visiting this magical city.

Capri: If what you’re looking for is sun, sand and beaches, then you won’t be able to miss going to Capri; an island located on Mediterranean waters off the southern coast of the Italian mainland and the Gulf of Naples. The beauty of its beaches and of the island itself, make it a very popular destination for celebrities and Neapolitan in general. In contrast to tourist attractions in mainland Italy, in Capri the order of the day is idleness, leisure, sun and sand.

Florence: This is a city located to the north of the central region of Italy and is known world wide due to its artistic and architectural heritage. In 1982, UNESCO declared the historical center of this city as an official World Heritage site.
The heart of the city is the Piazza della Signoria, where the Palazzo Vecchio (Vecchio Palace) is located- which is also where the administrative center of the city has been located since medieval times. There’s also the Gallery of the Uffizis, considered to be one of the most important museums in all of Italy. Another of the main attractions in the city of Florence is the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore- known for its cupola, a work of art of Renaissance origins by one of the foremost architects and engineers of Italian renaissance: Filippo Brunelleschi.
