Tourism and travel as its known to be, will take us on a journey that will have us visiting places that we never thought we’d be getting to know. Many times we travel around the world without ever really being aware that there may be more than what we see or hear directly in front of us. Sometimes we forget to be a bit more curious about our surroundings- especially in that other “world,” the one that is always moving about with tons of action, vitality and mystery right below the sea.

Today we want to share with all of you, a list that we found on the Internet that describes 10 ideal destinations for those looking to have some adventures with scuba diving.

Bali, South Pacific
For a while now, Bali has been considered by divers as the “cream of the crop” of locals to practice scuba diving in, because of its ideal location. It’s got the warm waters of the Pacific, a lot of diverse marine species, as well as massive underwater ruins to explore.

Cabo Lucas, Sea of Cortez
The famous underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau named Cabo Lucas “the biggest aquarium in the world” because of the abundance of life present in it. The waters of Baja California are overflowing with adventure. This location is especially enjoyed by the experienced scuba divers, whom favor it because of all the different possibilities they can find here at their fingertips.

The Red Sea, Egypt
A labyrinth of canyons, seabeds flooded by vegetation and deep caverns with intensely blue water are what perfectly places the Red Sea as an underwater Eden.

Kona, Hawaii
Kona is like a dream come true. Swimming and snorkeling at night with the manta rays at Big Island while illuminating the way by the gentle light of our flashlights… it’s a scenario that finds itself in the dreams of many divers.

Cozumel, Mexico
Cozumel is the location for the world’s second largest coral reef system. It’s a colorful paradise for divers who find themselves in this vast abyss, which is completed by a vertical reef wall that is over 900 meters (equivalent to about half a mile or 2,952 feet) in depth.

The Caiman Islands
The Caiman Islands is sometimes known as the birthplace of scuba diving (diving with gear and oxygen tanks as opposed to “free diving). This location boasts of having “magic waters” and a very special marine topography.

Cocos and Malpelo Islands, Costa Rica and Colombia
These two remote islands located on the eastern Pacific off of Costa Rica and Colombia, have two elements (among others) in common: gorgeous sights and a large quantity of hammerhead sharks.

The Great Blue Hole, Belize
This natural phenomenon is a geographic wonder. The Great Blue Hole is an underwater sinkhole off the coast of Belize. While exploring this sunken cave, you’d find yourself surrounded by submerged limestone stalactites (previously formed above sea-level thousands of years ago) and beautiful water gardens of bright, colorful corals. This is an experience that will truly give you the sensation of going deep into a new world.

The Bahamas
The Bahamas can boast of having translucent waters and depths that resemble smooth, sandy beaches. It definitely makes the Bahamas an ideal place to swim with sharks.

Thanks to the “Self Protection in the Mountain”(Autoproteccion en la Montaña) campaign- which exists in Spain through the efforts of the Generalitat of Catalunya Organization, in conjunction with the support of several other institutions- we have at our fingertips, a series of tips and practical advice that are quite useful when we’re preparing to spend some time fulfilling a bit of adventure in mountain climbing and trekking. Let’s take a look at the tips below:

Before heading out

• Make sure to inform yourself of what the temperature and weather will be like and any possible changes that could occur. If the weather predictions don’t sound too good, then it’s probably better to stay at home and reschedule for a nicer day.
• Plan your activities and their duration, in advance. Check out any guides, area maps, and if you don’t have any of those, then seek the expert advice of a professional.
• Always go while accompanied, or at any rate, let others know your whereabouts and itinerary.
• Mountain climbing requires preparation. Train for it, stay informed and keep updating yourself on techniques and trends.
• Use adequate and appropriate material, tools and equipment for the activity/ties planned.
• In case of an emergency, always carry the necessary contact information for emergency contacts and relief information.

During

• When you’re part of a group of people, always maintain contact with the others in your group.
• Pick out some points of reference, so that if need be, you can always guide yourself by them.
• Hydrate yourself often and eat foods that’ll help you maintain a good energy level.
• In case of cold weather, KEEP MOVING!, keep your body in motion and do not stop.

Last but not least, if you need to report an accident or need to get help, make sure to have the following information readily available:

• The number of people that are hurt and/or requiring assistance, and their ages.
• Place of the accident.
• The details of the accident (injured? Unconscious? Is anyone bleeding? Breathing?)
• The weather condition at the site of the accident.

Without a doubt, the Eiffel Tower is one of the busiest and most frequented tourists attraction in Europe. Keeping this in mind, it’s a good idea to take a look at the following advice in order to avoid encountering any problems, difficulties and/or upsets and instead, enjoy your visit to Paris to its full potential.

The Eiffel tower is riddled with stairs and for some people it can be a bit challenging to go up them- blame it on sickness, laziness or fatigue. But even so, to visit the Tower it is recommended that you reach the higher levels by going up the dreaded steps, for two reasons:

Guaranteed the elevators will be jam packed with people using them and the lines will be incredibly long to get to them as well, which would cause you to lose valuable time from your trip and itinerary.

You will have a better view of the area (which is truly incredible) by using the stairs, as you would be able to stop at various levels, take a breather and look around you. It’s the best way to admire from different angles, the truly majestic city of Paris. You’ll find that the best photos are taken this way too.
If you’re the kind of person that doesn’t feel comfortable and may be somewhat claustrophobic when you find yourself within a multitude of people, then your best bet is to visit the Eiffel Tower in the evening or at night, which is when you’ll see less of a crush. Try to avoid visiting during the weekend at all cost, as this is by far the busiest time and the queues of people lining up to enter are just ridiculously long.

While you’re observing the scenery from the top level, pay attention to all the information signs that are posted about. This way you’ll know exactly what you’re looking at and it’ll make your experience of the visit that much better.

It’s important that you keep in mind, that while the day may be warm and sunny, the Tower IS quite tall! Which means that the higher you go, the windier and breezier it can get and at the top level there’s definitely a breeze coursing right through it. Therefore, it’s recommended that you bring with you something to cover up with when you’re at the higher levels as it can get chilly up there.

As in any voyage, trip, or excursion, it’s extra important that you always keep an eye on your belongings. Stay aware of your bags, purses, backpacks, and wallets. Remember, that if you don’t act with caution and safety in mind, your dream vacation can turn into your worst nightmare if you end up getting mugged or are a victim of assault.

Visiting Paris can be a great experience if you take the steps to keep things organized and are open minded to learning and experiencing new cultures. It’s good to know that the Eiffel Tower is not the only attraction worth seeing while in Paris, but there’s also other sites to visit such as: L’Arc de Triomphe located on the grand boulevard Champs Elysee, the Sacre Coeur Basilica located on the hills of Montmatre (also the location for iconic scenes of the famed Amelie movie and the Moulin Rouge), the Luxembourg Gardens and Palace with the most beautiful springtime flowers and manicured gardens, and the incredible Latin Quarter chock full of entertainment, vendors, restaurants of all varieties and tastes and the best crepes to be had in Paris…these are just a few examples of the many wonderful places to be seen in this city. All you need to do, is make the decision to travel, to meet and learn about new cultures, and have wonderful experiences.

If you are one that seeks adventure and loves to travel, but detest an organized program because you dislike parameters for entertainment, it is probable that you are a backpacker. Nevertheless this does not mean that you would not prepare yourself up to a point to carry out your trip, is because of it that should keep in mind the following:

• The fact that you go on a trip does not mean that you would carry your clothes on your shoulders, place the following in your backpack: pants, jean, a sweatsuit, a pair of socks, underwear (2 or 3 will suffice, remember that you can wash in the boarding house), a long-sleeve t-shirt and a pair of sneakers that you will be wearing.
• To keep healthy you only need to assemble a small first aid kit that would contain: pills for stomachache, queasiness, headache and flu. A bottle of rubbing alcohol, bandages and eye drops.
• For hygiene: a bar of soap, deodorant, a toothbrush brush, dental paste, and a comb, The shampoo you can buy it in sachets in any store.
• Something that is very important is to have your wallet always handy, your id documents and above all a printed guide of the places that you will visit, though its certain you will not hire tourist guides (tours) it is good to know where they are and the attractiveness of the place.
• At the moment to choose a place to sleep remember that is not necessary to choose a 5 star hotel, the idea is to utilize as little money as possible, without getting too stingy. In each place there is always good options for lodging at very comfortable prices, remember that you only need a place to spend the night, since during the day you will be out for a walk.
• In the theme of the food, very good places exist that offer menus, which are a lot more economical than the dishes orders at the carte.

While the tourist has an agenda to follow, a tour and infinity of times to comply with a tight agenda of the trip, in which you get to know many places and have a good time. On the contrary, the backpacker only seeks to get to know and be entertained, but doesn’t follow a determined or specific plan only a backpack and ready.

Not always a trip for two turns out to be unforgettable even less when your companion turns out to be your partner. Although a trip with your husband, boyfriend or lover could be taken initially as a trip to get to known each other, or to connect more, or to be entertained or to relax, many times it ends up being a difficult experience to deal with because many problems in the relationship could come afloat, even if there is already a considerable time of living together.

Before traveling with your boyfriend or girlfriend consider the following tips to enjoy your trip to the maximum:

Comunication. Each one should plan where they would like to go and what places they would like to visit. This way you establish an understanding among both and organiize the trip. The best is to find a destination that is compatible to both.

Planification. This doenst mean tht you have to reserve everything in advance, but it would be good if you trip had a good organization. Make a list of the places you would like to visit and plan a time for each activity.

A moment apart wouldnt be so bad, even more so on long trips. If your partner wants to go out running just when you want to go to the beach it shouldnt be a problem. After all it is good to keep your privacy. After a moment apart you will miss each other more and you would want even more to be together.

A touch of romance. After a moment apart, dont doubt to give a romantic gesture and surprise your partner. Besides adding to the relationship it will help you enjoy each other’s company even more during the trip.

Commit to do something together, this is key, pick an adventorous and exotic activity such as mountain climbing, practice skiing and dive in deep waters. It will be a good memory that you will both share until the end of the trip.

When traveling, if you have experienced having said something out of place or not understanding a phrase during conversation, even though we speak the same language or are as fluent in it as we are in our Mother tongue, you are not alone. This is because, every country, aside from their own accents within the language, also includes new idioms or different meanings to existing words.

It is due to this fact that a new, informal online dictionary has been created for the purpose that we may learn and enjoy ourselves learning the more commonly used words in the colloquial language of some Latin American countries. The dictionary AsíHablamos.com has a broad database which you can navigate alphabetically, by words or filtering by country.

Even though almost all the countries of Latin America speak Spanish, with this dictionary you may be able to see how different the meaning of the same word can be in different countries and a lot of times within your own country. AsíHablamos.com not only offers you the terminology in each country but also, an example of its usage in order to be able to understand the context in which it is used.

This tool also invites us to continue constructing this dictionary in order to enrich it and allow it to be of great use to all travelers.
