Getting to Know Bariloche

Bariloche is a city of Argentina which is located in the Rio Negro province. The city’s full name is actually San Carlos de Bariloche, and it’s a unique tourist spot within Argentina, as both natives and foreigners want to get to know this great place full of impressive scenery made up of beautiful mountainscapes, rivers and lakes.

This zone of the Rio Negro province is ideal for visiting at any point in time. Its  views are spectacular no matter which season you choose to visit. One could definitely split up all the activities that are at offer into the various seasons, and still have plenty to do during each season of the year. For winter, you could choose to ski or snowboard, while in the summer there is fishing, rowing and nature walks.

One of the main centers in Bariloche is the Cerro Catedral, which is where you can go to do some skiing. There’s also the Otto mountain range which has access to the Invernal Piedras Blancas- definitely the place to be and the main tourist attraction center, because it is here that any skiing adventure will begin. Skiing first developed at Piedras Blancas and the first school for Skiing was created here and directed by Otto Meiling. Another of Bariloche’s natural attractions, is the Tronador mountain. The Tronador is uniquely characterized for having it’s own naturally formed amphitheater and for being the pathway connecting towards Los Alceres waterfall. 

Perhaps you’re one of those people which doesn’t like skiing, in which case you can opt out of it and head towards town and choose any one of the many agencies there offering tourist excursions. Within those that are most popularly chosen, is the visit to the Los Arrayanes National Park, a forest of 1753 expansive hectares, housing a great quantity of flora, the Nahuel Huapi National Park- famous for its attractive geography where you’ll find the majestic Nahuel Huapi Lake taking center stage, as well as the imposing Tronador range and Puerto Blest – the most important of the seven ports located on the lake.

One of the main hotels of Bariloche is the Hotel Llao Llao, which was opened in 1938 and offers various services and amenities, some of which are it’s 18-hole Golf course, a spa and pool. The main thing making this hotel so special, is its placement right on a hill between Nahuel Lake and Morenos lake, creating such breathtaking scenic views where you’d definitely be able to relax and come in contact with a bit of nature.

Snow, adventure, relaxing, nature and fresh air…no matter what your inclinations  may be, Bariloche is known as a tourist spot not to be missed nor left undiscovered. It’s a city where recreational activity reaches a maximum and satisfaction is always present.
