Marcahuasi: mystical place to renew the spirit

Marcahuasi

At more than 3900 msnm, to six hours toward the east of Lima, exists a plateau of volcanic origin located on a high mountain where we could find a white rock carved by the settlers of these lands around the year 100 B.C. This sculpture, called “The monument to humanity”, was built by the men of a culture called Masma, what today is Marcahuasi, it developed and coexisted with a beautiful landscape without equal.

Attractions of Marcahuasi

It is an invaluable combination of art and geology where we find a great model of living beings that go from humans to animals, passing for mythological animals. These sculptures are located in a specific zone, the Bosque de Piedras, where we will also find sculptures that resemble a Prophet, an assembly of seals and the Monument to Humanity.

We can also observe in Marcahuasi the Laguna Negra, a cocha – temporary lagoon that is formed from the rain – that can only be appreciated in the winter months, it has the magic property to change the personality of the people who drink from its water.

Esoteric Importance

The great attraction of this area, besides the beautiful landscapes of the Peruvian mountains always offers, are the esoteric properties that arriving to Marcahuasi gives us.

Many tourists have affirmed that to visit the Bosque de Piedras has renewed them of vital energy, since to be surrounded by these supernatural forces has given them sufficient will to make a change in their lives. The stones contain a great content of quartz, generating the same energy that would be obtained from visiting Machu Picchu.

Also, the walks that are accustomed to be organized – very coveted by the lovers of trekking and mountaineering – are for the tourists a way to purify the spirit, since the evils and toxins are eliminated from the body.

On the other hand, in the night, in the moonlight and the bonfires, the tourist guides make us participate of a mystical ceremony in which we find our soul by consuming San Pedro, a cactus that will cure us of any illness that we might have.
