The tourism board, Nuestro Rumbo, has created a list of ten places worldwide that are ideal for walking and trekking. In this selection, we have chosen the best places for ecological tourism where one can enjoy nature, marvel at the beauty of landscapes and cleanse oneself with the purest air in the environment.

If you enjoy adventurous tourism or only wish to have a trip out of the ordinary, take note of the following tourist destinations:
- Ben Nevis (Scotland) is the name of this place that offers the best landscapes for walkers; mountains, hills, valleys and a lovely breeze await you there. There are various routes in the mountains that can take you to the best places to scale.
- The Grand Canyon of Arizona (USA) is our next destination. This place is nominated as one of the seven “Natural Wonders of the World” and the reasons are obvious; the most incredible landscapes where the colors red, orange and brown mix with each step. There are various designated routes in the Grand Canyon National Park, from the most moderate to the most challenging, depending on the type of sportsperson that you are.
- The Great Wall of China is another enchanting option. You walk through an artificial route but are enjoying one of the most natural landscapes; history and nature may be found in this option.
The Cuenca National Park in Ecuador, is one of the best images of Latin America, located at 4.450 meters above sea level, is a route for those who easily adapt to heights.
- The Camino del Inca is the walk par excellence of South America; tropical jungles and ruins hundreds of years old await you throughout this route. Hikers start the trek at Urubamba River until reaching Machu Picchu - Cuzco.
- In Africa, Kilimanjaro, north of Tanzania is distinguished, where one finds the highest mountain and it is another of the hikes where one needs to prepare for the altitude. A trek may last a week where you will be in contact with craters, wild jungles and gigantic rock formations accompanied by lovely waterfalls.
- A walk through the Amazon jungle is a plan that only the most intrepid dare. Here you will find animals, fruits, plants and anything you can imagine in its wildest state. You may take guided hikes during the day or night, depending on your taste.
- Located on the west coast of Portugal we have another incredible hike in Biscoitos (Azores). The underwater volcanic formations that are found in this place transform it into an excellent destination for swimming but also for walking. The hills that surround the formations offer one of the best views of the Atlantic Ocean
- You can find an urban hike in London, the South Bank of London, a walk for those who do not want to stray far from the city. Situated at the length of the Thames River, the South Bank is the place chosen by the street artists of the city. It is not a long walk but it does offer a variety of activities.
- Lastly, another urban walk: New York’s Central Park, is found in the heart of the city and it is a respite from the hectic life of New Yorkers.
