This year, around the world, the official month of carnival will be February between the days of the 11th and the 14th. However, in many cases these festivals tend to begin a few days before the actual dates given and/or continue some days after the official end dates. Why not prolong the fun as much as possible!!? In this article, we’ll given you a few details about the most popular festivals and carnivals around the world.
The Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil The world’s most well known carnival. In Rio the music, dancing and entertaining is ongoing and non stop for a full week, where the famous schools of samba shine and compete with the elaborate and grand presentations and parades.
The Carnival of Venice, Italy This one is known for its magnificent and colorful mask and costume exhibits as well as its fabulous presentations. The Venetian Carnival is another one of those festivals that you must see at least once in your life. Perhaps it’s more a show of theatrics more than dance, but nonetheless, it is a spectacular sight to see the procession as it inches its way through the gorgeous city. This is really a delight of the senses.
The Cadiz Carnival, Spain One of the most popular carnivals or “ferias” in Spain, is the one held in Cadiz. It’s well known because of its position as one of the longest standing festivals (dating centuries back), because of the quality of its presentations and because of the music of the masked revelers. However, there are various other regions in Spain that celebrate with carnivals and ferias…most of them between the the 11th and 14th of February. In some areas, it’s an occasion for celebrating and in others for having fun and entertainment.
