The advantages of traveling alone

Trips by yourself are completely different from trips that are planned in the company of your mate or a group of friends; they offer a unique sense of freedom and they are of an indescribable service.

Traveling alone allows us to go to places where we could not go with company; to socialize and involve ourselves with the people from the places that we visit and in turn, freedom and spontaneity to be able to discover new destinations, on our own time and with our own schedule.  This much more personal affinity with our hosts will allow us to better solidify the ties of friendship and even a possible return.

These advantages are being capitalized by tourist agencies that offer special packages for singles (”singles”, groups of people who travel alone sometimes manage to be very compatible).  It is an option that you may consult with the travel agencies in confidence.

Self-knowledge trip

A lot of travelers recommend a trip alone in order to find themselves; taken as therapy to increase your self-esteem and self-discovery; distancing oneself from the routine and tedium of the known, entering into unknown situations and experiencing new things.  Traveling alone is an experience that we all should discover at some point in our lives.

Some advice to have in mind when traveling alone:

• Travel to a not too distant place, where the language is the same; that way you won’t have communication problems.
• Travel light, with the basics, clothes for the allotted time and avoid extremely valuable items.
• Let your family know about the trip and try to keep them abreast of your destination and trip duration.
• Always have a small medicine pouch at hand, filled with anti-flu medication, alcohol, gauze, etc.
• If traveling with backpacks, always keep in mind the security of the place where you are staying; it is convenient to pay a little more for better security and comfort.
• Enjoying simple things is another of the main points about traveling alone.  A trip by yourself frees you from routine but also from your responsibilities and fears, from the feeling of having the whole world on your back, from problems, debts and negative things.  Disengage from all of this dead weight on your trip and enjoy yourself as if the only thing that mattered is what you have on.
• Make friends. The best way to not feel alone when traveling is to interact with the people at the places that you visit; making friends with those who know the area will allow you to get more out of your trip.  The natives may offer a lot of advice about how to be comfortable and save money; if they like you and you manage to establish a friendship with them, they can make your trip more pleasant.  Being liked by your hosts is a great advantage.
